Day 5

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.  Saturday was a good day of preparation for Sunday’s service.  Sunday morning we celebrated Pastor Freddie’s ordination into the gospel ministry as pastor of “Light Unto My Feet” Church (formerly known to us as “Word Of Life” Church).  We also celebrated Pastor Freddie and Raquel’s renewal of their marriage vows as part of their commitment to serve the Lord.  Last, but not least, we celebrated Odalis’ quinceaƱera (15th Birthday).  We had a full house with people standing outside and 25 children in Children’s Church.  Great fellowship.  Great day.

Monday we were again at “Light Unto My Feet” Church for a day, a full day of discipleship training.  We had five pastors with several leaders in the morning training with D-Life Bible studies.  We had two groups meeting in the afternoon with Deacon training and an inductive Bible study in the gospel of John.  In the afternoon, also, our Sunnyside missionaries went visiting and had several opportunities to share the gospel.  In the evening we had another good worship service with Pastor John sharing about the importance of prayer in the worship life of the church.

Today, we are heading to El Triunfo to work with Pastor Freddie.  Please keep us in prayer for safe travel as we head into the mountains with bad weather.  Keep us in prayer for the spiritual battles that we will be facing in sharing the truth of the gospel, many of whom are blinded by Satan to understand the love of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  Pray for us to be able to encourage the believers there to be strong and to stay faithful in the midst of adversity.

Day 6

Praise God for victory in Jesus.  We thank God for Pastor William and his faithfulness in the gospel ministry in El Triunfo.  We were praying for God’s leading for starting small group Bible studies and God has answered our prayers.  We met with several of Pastor William’s church members and our group did a lot of witnessing yesterday.  We also had a great opportunity to work with children at the school in Cruz Loma in the morning and with children in El Triunfo in the afternoon.   Concerning small group Bible studies, Pastor William will be meeting with a small group Bible study starting next Monday using the D-Life study guides.  Keep these new believers in prayer for the commitments that they are making.

Today we are going to Shell and to visit the orphanage this afternoon.  We have a lighter ministry day which is good because we are tired but still rejoicing.  We have such a great ministry group – members of Sunnyside sharing alongside our wonderful translators, Dave & Deb, our local pastors, brothers & sisters in Christ.

Be sure to look for pictures that Penny is posting about her time with the animals!

**There will be no pictures available this day for the protection of the children.**

Day 7

We are on our way to San Juan, a new community for our mission team, which seems to be a community that has been highly evangelized by Jehovah Witnesses and that has been for a long time a Catholic community.  We will be doing door-to-door evangelism and inviting people to a worship tonight that we are leading.  Please pray for us for God’s protection and for wisdom and love in our sharing today and for a good number of people in attendance tonight.

Praise God for our time at the orphanage in Shell yesterday.  The children at the orphanage were fun and to be with.  They enjoyed our games and crafts and of course our treats.  The children also got terrific haircuts.  Thanks to all the members of our mission team who prepared this ministry.

Pray for this orphanage that someone can serve as a pastor to all of these young women and men who are truly hurting.  They are so responsive to the love and compassion of others and they desperately need to know the love and compassion of our Savior so that they can receive forgiveness of their sins and receive the grace of our Savior to be able to forgive others who have hurt them so deeply.
